Holy Thursday No Prayer Group

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states 2689 “Prayer groups, indeed ‘schools of prayer,’ are today one of the signs and one of the driving forces of renewal of prayer in the Church, provided they drink from authentic wellsprings of Christian prayer. Concern for ecclesial communion is a sign of true prayer in the Church.” Also, 2695 “Ordained ministers, the consecrated life, catechesis, prayer groups, and ‘spiritual direction’ ensure assistance within the Church in the practice of prayer.”
What is a Charismatic Prayer Group? We gather together in worship, joyful praise, thanks, honor in words, song, silence, witnessing, sharing, and intercessory prayer in openness to the spiritual gifts.
“ When we assemble, one has a hymn, another some instruction to give, still another a revelation to share, one speaks in a tongue, another interprets. Let all things be done to build up the community.” (1 Cor. 14:26)
What is the purpose of the prayer meeting? The purpose of the prayer group is to praise, worship and honor God with others and to build up the Body of Christ through prayer and faith sharing experiences. We are all children of God – sisters and brothers in Christ. We are a family.
How do we prepare for a meeting? We prepare for the meetings through prayer and scripture
At the meeting, pray as you feel comfortable: in silence, singing, lifting hands, reading scripture, following the lead of the Spirit.

Close your eyes to the distractions around you. Rest in the Spirit. Focus on God’s unconditional love.

At times, we may pause individually or as a group, to experience the peaceful grace of the Holy Spirit.

“Expectant faith is not new efforts. It is new desire. Growing in expectant faith is growing in desire. The more we desire, the more we ask for. The more we ask for, the more we receive.” (There’s Always More: Expecting New Fire Sr. Nancy Kellar, S.C.)

“ Have I not told you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)
